What a great thread!!!

I loved backing up to page one to sixteen!! I breed partridges and I love hearing the point of view from all. I guess I'm strict in my breeding b/c I only breed back the best of what I have and Will not breed certain things. My problem is I hang onto them till they are almost a year and run out of SPACE!!!! lol

I currenlty have 30+ youngsters under age 6 months growing out!!! I actually was told by my DH to sell a few so I settled on selling one

Funny thing is, the Partirdges I do not like for the first 8 months are usually the ones that turn out the nicest, GO FIGURE

Now only if I could convince myself to sell more I'd be sitting in this chair more and surfing the web or watchin TV. Then again who needs to do that when you have fuzzy butts to play with and tend to

Thanks for all the input and I hope more breeders will add more input without worrying so much about what everyone else to say. Remember it's only your personal insight/opinion and no one can really put you down for that

Best Wishes all!!

Ohhh Pennie the Buffsters Babies are looking NICE!! Love them and their color!!

Hope you breed somemore to share

Thank you Beth and the Buffster. Too bad she quit laying, we were just getting started!!!

Poor Hentoo is about to keel over dead from the abuse she is taking from the boys. But she just won't stop laying eggs - sometimes 2 a day!!! And she's a Silkie!!!!! I almost wish she would quit laying and go broody. If she was smart she would. Then she would be moved to her own private condo and could watch the tube and eat bonbons all day!

But I guess she figures putting up with men is easier than a bunch of babies (she may be right?).
Next year I should have at least 10 breeders. I'll have 8 pullets and 2 or 3 boys to show this year, then off they go to make me some more beautiful babies.
I haven't been on since this morning because I was on a field trip doing what I do best - buying more bird babies (my husband is just about to disown me). I bought another partridge chick, 2 black chicks with red leaking through and a gorgeous black started bird with a couple of red tips on her hackles. I mean I took Connie's word for it that they were there. She's really beautiful and will be a great addition to my partridge program.
Oh, I almost forgot... You should see the new addtion that I will have this fall to my program. I am replacing my black cockerel with the gold/red hackles with 1 from Connie. He is the most gorgeous bird I have seen. Exactly what I am looking for - and in keeping with my bloodline. He's 100 x's the bird than the 1 I have now. I just about peed my pants when she brought him out.

Wow you are off to a great start! I will have to email you pics of some babies I have growing out! Where's the pics of this handsome boy? You'll have to email them to me!! I love seeing pics of beautiful silkies you pick out

. Ya have great taste girl!

Buffster sister quit on me in May and June then started laying again in July. If you don't sell her by then maybe she will pick up again like her sister?

She and a white hen went to a very good retirement home since they were both about the same age. Hopefully this doesn't mess me up, but I do have her boys and girls.
Beth, this boy is absolutely mouth watering. I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanted to bring him home today. This little girl that I did bring home is his niece (do they have those in the chicken world?

).
I'm really glad that I started this thread. Hopefully it keeps going. The one thing I like about it is that it's only about 1 thing. I hate having to wade through hundreds of pages of everything to find what you are looking for on the normal Silkie thread.

Oh now you've got me curious!! Do you pic's?? Must see Must See!! LOL

Glad to hear they went to a good home. If that were me knowing my luck I'd give them away and 1 month later they lay like crazy!?!

Anyway, I'm glad you started this one too!

Now only if I can get my Fav Silkie CT breeder to do Partridges, hmmhmm ((Pam B)) then that would be awesome

Oh, Very important question for you all.

I need help, I want my DH to build me a show box and if you all had a choice for backround color w a partridge silkie what backround color would that be? My husband said White and I do no think white does anything to help the color bust.

What do you all suggest?

Thanks!!
Beth

Maybe a peach color or salmon. You're right, you have to make the partridge POP. Take swatches out to the barn!!!

Since Karen has joined the thread~~~I want to say a giant "THANK YOU" for the wonderful eggs you sold me. Not everyone (including me) is willing to take on the potential hassle of selling....but I'm so glad Cat Dance does
