Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Thanks for the pictures, I am really trying to figure out what chick down on the Partridges indicates for colors when they grow up..

Super cute chick! Bottom brown one looks like "girl comb".. is this the silver boy one? Or is the silver one the one in the top picture in the scale? Or.. are they both the same chick with different lighting?
You have to feel it too, I has to feel indented or raised. You can definitely see a difference can't you? I thought FancyChookLady called the silver a HE earlier, but I thought it looked girly from the pattern of the silver gray. The chest, neck, and breast coloring follows the same way on the silvers as the patterns on the gold partridge little girls.

Quote: They are full brother and sister, would that be wise? I was thinking of breeding her to her dad (for Partridge), and Ricki to his mother (I like that darker Buff much better). Mom is a very washed out Buff (in my humble opinion). Her type is really the best of all the ones I have in that pen though - that's why her kids look so much better than their dad. Ricki really has a nice cushy tail and big fluffy crest - and they are all un-bearded but still look great.

Perhaps next generation I will loose some of the dilution in some girls for Partridge, and keep the ones with dilution for the Buff breeding side.

I know the Moor cap is "ok".. but I don't like it as much as the red-heads. I did have one really bright red Buff girl - named her Lucy, that's how I got a Ricki! Hadn't planned on doing a Buff pen so I sold her - now sort of wish I had kept her - she showed NO dark feathers.

See I like the dark head - I love the contrast. I named my girl Lucy because of her red head that doesn't show up in my pictures very often. I liked your Lucy a lot, I wish you hadn't sold her also. I like that light blond buff though I know the richer color is more correct.

I think I read brother to sister one generation is OK. I can't remember which thread that was in. Don't take my word though - wait until you hear from Sonoran because I don't know who said it.

Just had three Partridge and six blacks hatch. :love

can I breed my blue partridge hen with a very dark partridge?

sorry not a very good picture of him.

You can breed any chicken to any chicken.. I am not sure what colors those two will throw, but at least they are both called "Partridge" and most of their chicks will be Partridge too. My Partridge boy looks like yours, and he throws white and Partridge.
