Parvo!!!!!!! how to sanitize without bleach UPDATE.....

If anyone in future is trying to disinfect for Parvo, there are some methods listed at http://www.parvopuppy.com/heal_parvo.htm#DS, along with much other info that can help with treating Parvo.

As mentioned by @pips&peeps, Oxine is a powerful disinfectant often used by chicken people that is effective against parvo. There is some very good info on it here:

It seems you may have to "activate" Oxine (by mixing in a little bit of citric acid crystals) to powerfully treat Parvo virus. Activated Oxine is supposed to be somewhat hazardous to breathe so a respirator is advised (though I personally don't worry much if the area isn't real enclosed), but once it dries it is VERY safe for animals & humans. Oxine is even used to disinfect drinking water for human use.

Alcohol...70% isopropyl or ethanol. It will not bleach carpet, but it might stain. Hydrogen peroxide is likely to bleach carpet. Most of the labs I've worked with have either disinfected with bleach or alcohol.
NO!!! The Parvo virus even if literally placed in an alcohol solution will survive. Need to check with your vet for a certain Solution.
Poster: Bad on you. Do not post a solution to an almost always fatal disease to any young animal or animals unless you KNOW for certain what you are posting is true. Good way to spread an already rampant viral disease.
