Very well said!
If someone who has been fortunate wants to GIVE a gift, that's one thing. But to have the government say you HAVE too, just
because you have done well for yourself, well that's just socialist!
That would be like me having to give you one of my chickens, just because
you want one, but don't have the means to get your own.

First off I'd like to say.. I have no idea what the % for pay/taxes is... in the USA or Canada..

But I have a neighour who is American, he always wondered when traveling around here, how we keep our roads so nice, our health care etc..
Well he got his first Canadian pay check, and then he knew how we pay for it all.. The amount of taxes you pay, depends on how much you make..
Our CPP, Canada pension plan, comes off your pay, at once... So you really lose a lot.. If you make a lot.. EI, Hubby loses.. Well he's pay is say $4000.00 he loses $1500.00 of that.. min. in Taxes..

Here we say, the more you make, the more you pay.. And I grew up this is normal.... I also love that I can bring my kids to doctors, anytime and not pay.. And anyone can bring their kids to doc. you will have to pay for atibiodics/ or pain meds.. But there's no child left behind, for lack of health care.. and nobody goes bankrupt, because they had a problem with their health.. We still have problems here, sometimes if you can't afford pain meds, you won't get them (just a sample from hospital) But at least we geta diagnose..
I gave birth to, two kids in the hospital for free.. All my OBG apointments covered.

so the idea of millonares paying more.. ah, it's the cost of living here..

To me it is pretty obvious that these people (millionaires) are not trying to be patriotic; they are not dumb; they are not trying to be smart; they are simply making a political statement that says, "The country needs more revenue and the best way to get it is to increase taxes and the least painful way of increasing taxes is to increase the taxes for the rich people. It is really just that simple. I really did get a chuckle out of Q-9 left field (or maybe it is right field) economic proposal that "every dollar taxed is a dollar lost from the private sector." If we follow the confederate economics to its logical conclusion then we would have utopia if we just eliminated all taxes and declared every man for himself. Just my opinion, but that seems really illogical.

I suppose we could also follow the utopia the other way and give all our money to the government and hope they take care of us... we all see how that hope thing is working.

After you have a nice home, a couple cars, 2.5 children, and a nice nest egg, how much do we really need to buy? After we get over a certain amount of money I see no problem with taxing the %$@# out of the overflow. Maybe if people focused less on gathering together lots of cash and focused more on their families and communities, we would be a better nation. Perhaps if we were not working two jobs to pay off health care that is overpriced and mismanaged we would have a better idea who our neighbors were and what our kids were up to.

Now, whether our goverment will do something useful with it is another question entirely- but that just means we need to work on changing a corrupt system, not that the idea of taxing the wealthier is a bad idea.

That old "trickle down" economic theory has been seriously debunked by now. Millionaires don't buy more from us, they buy more from other millionaires - look at what they are buying - $5000 purses and $3000 shoes.

The problem isn't so much getting millionaires to pay more taxes, its getting rid of that horrible tax cut to millionaires that was put in and put us on this wretched path. You can't fight wars on credit, its a proven fact, you have to fund them and you do that by taxes and bonds. Not borrowing from China. Even Regan raised taxes on the rich.

Rescind the tax cut to the rich, get rid of all the tax loopholes to corporations and tax professional organizations (did you know the Pro-Golfer Association pays no taxes?) and its a good start. Start taxing the churches who, against IRS law, get involved in pulpit politics and contribute to politicians and we'll do a hell of a lot better than we are now.

I'm less then middle class, I don't mind paying my share, But it's getting harder to pay for my feed for my girls.
I work hard. I just want a little piece of the pie so to speak.
If only they bought american, then I think we would be better.
