Pea Eggs Scheduled to Hatch?

Looks like the little Bronze is all I'm getting from this batch. Little BP must've passed yesterday or today, the little guy was fully formed. I didn't take him all the way out of the shell, but what I did was moisten down the air sac membrane so I could see through, and the poor thing was just still.
I candled the rest of them just for good measure (was not confident they were going to hatch going into lockdown - no movement, no veins), and they all look the same, not fully dark in the shell area.

Looks like I'll bring some new babies home tomorrow, anyhow.

I am still happy about my one and only, though. I think I'll get better hatch rates with local eggs that don't have to go through 2 days of shipping and hot delivery trucks. New hatch date will be August 11th if I'm setting tomorrow.

I know how you feel. I ended up with UNO as my one and only. I was just really glad to have at least one chick. I see a lot of us only get one chick that seems so rare why one chick?? Why does one come out and not the rest? I really enjoyed spoiling him sadly when I was gone something happened and he passed away

I'm not confident with shipped eggs either, but sometimes if you want a special color that seems to be the only alternative, there is. They seem to fly off of e-bay, no matter the bad hatch results..

I heard that this year has been rough for a lot of breeders, even home hatches. Must be this ridiculous heat. But this little one is strong. Out of the shell and moving around in at most 2 hours. No feet or leg problems. I'm just happy the little one is healthy.

They are doing good G-daughter is taking I 80 to hand raise, I think. We got hens yesterday and the fellow just gave Matti a Java chick and another bigger one to keep him warm on the ride home. He gave us an egg he found when catching the hens. So I have 4 in big rabbit cage,now I got UNO out of the shell. I think he thought I was his Mom. Some say it is not good to hand raise one but I sure enjoyed the little guy. He was getting so he almost would jump in my hand when I put it down. These guys aren't quite as friendly but have each other. I pick them up one by one and talk to them though a few times a day, I don't want them to be flighty around humans. I think each are glad when their session with me is done. I wasn't going to do this again this year, but got 4 eggs from FBC two are Midnight BS put yesterdays egg in the Incubator. I'm just not set up to house many chicks over the winter yet since I find they need to stay off dirt and can't be with chickens. Guess I may have to put it in gear and get something set up.

I unexpectedly had a little forgotten about egg due that hatched today from my Spalding Silver pied pen,,the two hens in here are both India Blues with white flights on them,,,will get a pic later today and post when the chick is dried off.Here is the proud father,,Wild Thang actually putting an effort in to impress the hens he's with.

all i can really say is WOW i just join BYC last week and didnt know peacocks were even on this site but that bird is absolutly beauitful i didnt know they were different colors either

Well, once again, although I didn't hatch them (Mom did!), they're so cute that I have to sneak them into this thread...
Their names are Twig and Sprig, and they are now 4 1/2 weeks old.





The absolute cutest thing is when they roost. They've been sleeping on a branch in the big oak tree over our house, and in the evening I can look straight up and see Mom, with Twig and Sprig poking their little heads out from under her...it is really sweet.

Chick TV --- Station PEAS -- lol -- this is the indoor brooder box everybody spends their 1st two weeks in -- it's a large cardboard box with a window screen in the side of it -- the peachicks love to peek out & see what's going on. It's in my utility room just next to the back door, so every time you come in & out the house, you walk past & see "Chick TV" action. (it's not that dark, just the way the camera took the pic).

"What are you looking at"? "Where's our TREATS"?!! They will fly right out into my lap, ready to go for a walk around the back yard when I open the door to their coop.

Such beautiful babies you have done good this year. I love that brooder idea. Look at that little peep looking at the camera. It amazes me they are so different from the common chickens that run for the other corner when you walk near the cage. They all come up like what you got for me, I'm so cute.
