She's probably in pain, which would explain her behavior. Abscesses are a lot like big, painful, pimples. They hurt when even brushed and you can't always just make them go away without serious work

@Eggcessive, you got any suggestions? I can't see enough to tell for sure what it is, and I deal with abscesses rabbits, not birds

If it's an abcess, you lance it (like a home in it or curly it open) and get all the puss out before cleaning it out. It's a two person job. One does the sticking and cleaning and one holds the animal

It will hurt her, but that pain is needed to fix it. Either it's sharp pain briefly and then dull pain as it heals or it's dull pain until an infection grows too large
