peeping/pipping????---Help!

i say WAIT it is normal for chicks to make noise inside the egg just before/during the hatch. DO NOT OPEN THE INCUBATOR! chicks can rest for HOUSE between pips, and it may take a while. the whole hatching process can take up to two days. good luck on this hatch! you'll soon have little fuzzy babies to take care of! best of luck with this hatch!

ok, I still hear peeping but can't see any pipping yet. Thanks for clearing up my terminology. I'm totally clueless. Wil keep you guys posted.

Ok, I see the first "pip" in an easter egger egg! That one I know I set 2/14. Some of them I set 2/15 (I think that's proabably a bad idea now that I've read more). Maybe I'll have a couple fuzzy butts after all.

Now it can still take 24 hours after the pip before they get all the way out of the egg!! So don't give up! I have 3 pips that are going on 24 hours right now and they are not out of their eggs yet! It makes you crazy trust me I know!

I am glad you got your first pip!

OK, well I have one little blue easter-egger chick after 24.5 days of incubating about 30 eggs. Better than none I guess. He hatched out somewhere around 2 AM or so and I just put him in the brooder. I hate that he doesn't have a buddy. (I'm just assuming it's a him since I only had one). I'm naming him (or her) Lucky. Must be lucky to have survived my terrible incubating! He's kind of bumbling around but hasn't seemed to discover the food yet. I lined the bottom of the box with paper towels and sprinkled the mash on the floor. It's right at 98 degrees in the box. Anything else I should be doing? I have gotten 2 and 3 day old chicks before but never started them on feed myself.

Congrats on the baby! Just keep him warm and make sure you dip it's beak in water for the first time so it figures out how to drink. Are you sure there are no more that are going to hatch??
