Peeps in Europe!

Pics
John, maybe you need to leave some pictures of chicks around... "honey, look!! That is soooo cute" Or join the breeding club... maybe they got space for you there. I'm only paying 60 Euros/year for my coop and 400square meter run. Plus some other benefits. :thumbsup

@abpatchy, that's why I asked for pics! Are you saying that you joined the breeding club and they provided the space for your ladies to run around? WOW! My girls' run is outside my dining room window, one floor down. But 400Sq meter run! M girls would get lost! But I think, in a year or so, she will come around to my way of thinking. She was not happy about these three ladies, but who is always checking on them throughout the day? Or asking the kids, "who checked on them last" or "I didn't have a chance, go check for the eggs". So I think it's only a short time for her.

absolutely John! I have no garden. I had to join the breeding club to keep chickens. When something became available my neighbor came over and let me know. So I looked at it, liked it and said yes. My thinking was, since I HAVE to breed for show, at least it should be a breed that is worth breeding. One that is rare and in danger of becoming extinct. The coop, fence and fence above for protection was all there. I had to replace the roost since it was for bantams. There are 8 different runs to use... 4 separate coops inside the building with 4 chicken door. automatic opener with timer (even though my husband had to fix it and figure out how to make it work ... but he did :D )
Believe me, I would love to have my chickens by my house... but I can't. On the positive side.... I can have lots of roosters and nobody cares! :thumbsup
Of course every club is different...I also get my mandatory newcastle immunization for 10cent per chicken. Even if you're not breeding... it's a good thing to become a member.

I just found the nearest club! It seems that the nearest club died out and what members it had joined with another club. I sent an email so hopefully I will have a reply soon. So thanks for kicking me in the butt to find a club.

So how many times a day do you visit your girls? Since I'm semi-retired, I have the time to visit many times a day.

That's great!!! Hope it works out for you!! Too bad the club died out. They are really happy to have me in the club.. female and under 60... lol
Once or twice... sometimes 3 times but I also have a garden at the garden club () not too far from there. It all depends how it works out. I have to drive about 5-10 minutes into the major part of town.

Here are my home grown nuggets, they are 10 weeks old now. They tend to stick together all the time, away from the others and the cockerel keeps Papa at a distance because he's starting to get interested in his sister. They are on the whole a very peaceful breed, mostly just give each other the evil eye when they don't like something. I really love the character of these birds! Really hoping my hatch is good an I can add more peeps very soon.
