oh. John... I am sorry you are having such a hard time!!! Yes, these times are really ridiculous... I even heard out Lidl is out of eggs. A friend told me there was a car that was broken into because it had toilet paper inside!!!
But keep in mind... the more we stick to those rules the quicker it will be over! Keep you chin up!
I am happy I have my chickens, my eggs and the little chicks. They keep me busy. Maybe you need a little incubator and some hatching eggs...? The kids would love that! Would be educational too!!! Just keep telling the wife it's for educational purposes!!! Just kidding!

Yesterday, I spent 2.5 hours getting the chicks immunized. We had to stay in the car and they were getting the chicks and bringing them back when done.

Did I mention something like the hubby was coming around to the chickens? Hahaha... I asked him if he didn't want to join the breeding club (you don't have to breed just to be a member) but he could keep the chickens if something were to happen to me. And he agreed!! He even said he might take over a coop if it were to come available. Wow!!! Talk about change!! Last year he wasn't too happy when I said I am getting chickens! :wee Times change!

Here is a picture of my 2.5 week old chicks. There is a chick sitting on the food in the front... it's a little darker... that is a rooster... the rest is hens. Of course there a a few more rooster in the bunch... but I would say 75% hens. No wonder they were so noisy!

Hi papa John. Keep up you're spirit.
I’m fine. I do mis visiting friends and family. But instead I’m much more on the phone.

There is a lot of interesting news on our national news media today. I just read this interesting article about differences in measuring, death and ICU beds , in Germany and other countries https://nos.nl/l/2328273

I can not select and copy the text for google translate. Most important is that in Germany much more people where tested for Corona and you have much more ICU beds.

At this new site they write that they found /isolated the enemy of this virus. They ask people who had Corona, and are better now to give blood to develop a serum for the sick. A serum probably wil help the sick, but can not prevent getting sick. I probably will take a few months to test and develop this serum.

This gives hope for the near future!

Ladies, I did not mean to imply that things are that bad....yet! I love studying people, always have, even as a kid. How they act in public and then in private. How they handle stress, happiness, any unexpected change, positive or negative. How they dress!!! That is my favorite! To see how someone is dressed and then try and guess they their job, if they are married. I know....I'm strange.
I can inter-react with others as I am going to work, doing the shopping and such. It's the hardest on my girls because they are very social kids. And then they only have the two of them....a teenager and one who just started school. The age difference is what gets them.

@abpatchy good for your husband! But I don't think we have enough room for chicks....what would I do with them all?

@BDutch thanks for the article. I have read that the Netherlands are also well prepared. And guess what? I tried reading it in Dutch before I used Google! My company has an office in Purmerend, so I get to see a lot of Dutch shipping paperwork.

@Erba, cabin fever? What ever do you mean? Not me! 🥴 🤪🤪🤯🤯😵😵🥴 At least the sun is shining!

Everyone, be safe and stay healthy! Now time to go to work!

Don’t think too highly of the Dutch. We can’t test many of the sick if they have Corona. There is a shortage of testing materials and people to take swaps. Anamneses and röntgen is needed to decide if its Corona.

We don’t have enough hospital capacity. Especially in N-Brabant. They have to transport lots of patients to other Provinces. Planned surgery and health care that is not very urgent is postponed.

The experts expect that the number of patients for hospital care and ICU will increase another 2 weeks. And maybe there are just not enough people and oxygen machines for all patients.

Good news is that the numbers of new infestations have stabilised and are not increasing anymore. But it takes a few weeks to get very sick with respiratory problems if you have a severe contamination. Any relief in Hospitals is not expected until May because the hospitalized (especially ICU) patients often recover very slowly.

And don’t forget the reason of this trouble. The government underestimated the impact of this Corona trouble and was too late, not clear enough and too soft to intervene. The experts didn't account on human egoistic behaviour.
People where still gathering and having parties after the government asked them not to. There are people who wouldn't listen and are annoyed that they have to stay home while only the sick and elderly are vulnerable. Some people don’t/didn’t understand and say “Why stop living if you only get a ‘flew’.”
Thats why they interview now very sick and younger people in hospitals.

Oh I know ALL about planned surgeries and hospital stays being cancelled. The same thing is happening here. Every 8 weeks, my father-in-law goes into the hospital (4 days stay) to receive a treatment to help his heart. They called and it was cancelled without an expected date for the next treatment! TBH, we are keeping our fingers crossed and hope that he can make it that long!

Today, we were informed that our company is too large and that we have to limit the number of people in offices, in our 3 production halls and warehouse. SO....the who company is starting shift work with just enough ppl to operate. So who knows where this is all leading.

BUT I know one thing....China is selling medical supplies and test kits to other countries on the Millions of dollars level! Where did they get it all from? I think that we are not being told the whole story behind this! But that is another topic for another day.

As long as my family and friends remain healthy and safe, I'm happy!

I guess China has enough people to all upon and get supplies manufactured... they had a couple of month notice. Just look how they made this hospital to treat people. 10 days! You wouldn't even get a permit to build one in that time over here!

I do hope your father-in-law gets his treatment in time. Horrible, horrible to think someone would have to die because they can't perform a surgery because of all that!!!

how are things in Greece @chickengr ?

dirty politics as all over the world.

there is no virus on the island where I live nor anyone I know or people from fb heard of anyone sick - except on tv. one girl says her father died of heart attack and they oficially claimed he died of coronavirus. as the ateist government ordered locking up all the churches and other religeous places I wonder what this is about. and the worst thing is we are not allowed to go out. people that still work (very few of them) have a special permit. the fine for getting out is 5000 eur and they already collected a lot of money. legal mafia.
