Pekin Duck Club!

The 1 today wasn't normal either, I didn't see 1 in her house... but when I went to empty the pool I noticed there was 1 in the water. When I grabbed it I was like what the heck?! It was the size of a normal egg but it was soft & had this cord thing on the top again. The thing on top is almost like a umbilical cord except it's not like gooey. Weird! I will get some oyster shells tomorrow! It has been quite a while since she had laid... maybe everything (her "equimpment") is just warming back up!
Hopefully that is it. I have seen pics of what you are describing and tried to find some pics but couldn't. But I did read that soft shell eggs can happen when a duck is starting back up to lay after taking time off. So i wouldn't worry.

Oh my gosh those of us who cherish our birds and could never eat one cringe at the word meaty when some describes one of their own.

Well I guess I am now part of the Pekin club! We got 6 Pekins at about 1 week old they are now 3weeks old. Unfortunately we can only keep 1 or 2. Out of the six 1 has imprinted on me completely. The others will be going to a friend's farm. They all kind of pick on the one that is imprinted on me. Should I only keep it or do you think if it was just 2 they would get along?
