Pekin Duck Club!

OK folks I have a question, my ducklings which are two weeks old are going through six quarts of water a day mostly just splashing their bills in it must they have constant water at their disposal or can I regulate it during the day and leave it at night. Whatever needs to be done im fine with but I can use some advise if they continue at this pace it'll be a quart an hour soon.

At two weeks old, I wouldn't start restricting their water intake. They need it to eat. When they get old enough you can start removing it at night, as long as you remove the food, too. Never leave them with food and no water, they can choke to death.

How many ducklings do you have? I have four, and at 5 weeks they go through several gallons a day, easily.

Just put something under the waterer to contain the spills, and you'll be ok. I'm at the stage right now where I'm counting the days until they can go outside (ONE WEEK!) because they get so much water EVERYWHERE. I just keep telling myself, "They're ducks. That's what they do."

The store told me they were a week old so now they would be two weeks old, but I think they are older. In one week I went through three different size brooders, they are growing at an alarming rate. I live on the second and third floor of an apartment building. We were supposed to be moving in a month in a half so I figured I could keep them inside but that fell through. I'm starting to freak BC they are getting so big. I don't wanna give them to a farm, I don't want to give them up at all, I'm attached. How long can I keep them inside. I wont put diapers on them, I don't think that is right. What do I do?!?! In don't wanna get kicked out or lose my duckies. Help!!!

Ducks actually grow at an alarming rate. Do they have any feathers yet? Can you post some pictures? We can possibly give you an estimate on their ages. How many do you have?

If you want to see how fast ducks grow, watch my YouTube playlist:

They were about 4 days old when I got them, and they're 5 weeks old today.

I think I've got a problem.... a duck addiction. We just got two new ones....

Olympis.-grey and yellow and Nyne - rouen or mallard

Well, it's an understandable addiction. Look at how cute they are and you get to hold them. And even as adults they are still so cute and funny and do all sorts of crazy things. I don't own any due to my living situation but my friend has a diverse flock of 4 now and the stories he tells…..

Love the names Olympis and Nyne. Creative.
