Yes, as cute as they are, dealing with new ducks can be ugly. This is going to sound crazy, but here goes. I am very new to this so I thought I would ask. My pekins are only 4 weeks old and I got 2 rouins that are now a week old. There is quite a difference in size so they're in separate brooding boxes (I was also keeping them apart for the first 72 hrs.). When I introduced or tried to introduce them, the pekins were very aggressive. They were pecking at the eyes and necks of the rouens. Is this normal and will it ever get better? Is there a better way too introduce them? They are all in the same room and the pekins have bonded with us already. We are still working with the rouens. Thank you!
It is possible she could hatch some.looking for some advice on a female pekin duck. she is a year old and has been sitting on her eggs quite a bit . She lays 2 eggs a day! How much time does a duck have to sit on them? Her male duck friend sits on them too . Should I remove them and start fresh as I dont know what eggs are older. am I really possibly going to have baby ducks if she sits on them often enough?
She's pretty! Welcome to BYC
I read where some started at 4 mos but I think closer to 6 is the norm. Mine are 19 weeks old and they have not started layingWen do Perkins normally start laying?
