Pekin Duck Club!

I call my pekins the mob cause they run the yard. It's so funny to watch them back my SLW rooster in a corner and show him who is boss. They are truly some characters.
That is funny. They think they are so tough. Does the rooster fare well with them otherwise? Ducks are funny. My buddy's giant pekin girl likes chasing his little dogs and being all hissy and tough toward them, but when one turns around and snarls at her, she back pedals flapping her wings. Cute.

Yes my rooster gives as good as he gets then they all just go their separate ways. They have been raise together since little so it's more of a friendly competition of who is ruling the yard at that moment. They all work together toward common enemies. They all chased a cat out the yard one day and I haven't seen the cat since. They are all so comical.

good for the rooster, friendly competition is probably good socialization for your birds. So stoked they banded together to chase off the cat. Good riddance, stay away.

Will pekin ducks come home at night if left to free range

Mine didn't like to go in at first I had to chase them around the yard but now they know where to go but the nicer the weather the longer they take to go in. I usually have to fuss at them like they are children that want to play a little longer. So in the summer I leave the chicken coop open longer so they can enjoy the night air.

Any advice on how to tame your ducklings? My 2 seem very skittish and don't like to be held. One is worse than the other. When I pick it up and put it on my lap it peeps LOUDLY and tries to get away the whole time. Does not like me at all. The other is a little less skittish and will let me hold and pet it for a bit but gets over it quickly. They are currently in a brooder with 6 Brahma chicks. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Though most of the Brahma chicks are pretty friendly and don't mind being held. They scurry when I put my hand in the brooder of course but once I pick them up and start petting them they calm down pretty quick. Except for the one duckling. Any advice would be appreciated.

400

Stole a quick pic of the one that will let me hold it for a minute. I can already tell it's bigger than when we got them on Thursday! Why do they have to grow so fast?!
