The pekin I have recently made a nice nest and has now laid nine eggs. Before this she laid eggs randomly around her pen. Is this a sign that she's going broody? I've heard that it is rare, but should I leave the eggs and let her try it? Or would I be better off putting them under a broody hen?

My Pekin began making nests and laying there too. I decided I'd leave one and take one (for incubation and also to put under my turkey hen). I am glad I did that because she never sat.

I discarded her old eggs and she made a new nest somewhere else (she is sooooo smart) the next day. I was able to incubate some so I have some of her offspring, so I decided to eat the rest. I leave three in the nest and have been removing the new egg every morning. She moved the nest again ... I don't know if she will go broody, but as far as making secure beautifull nests she's the best!!!
