Penguin seems sick

So she definitely was eating yesterday morning, but is not eating now. I called the vet and managed to get an appointment for Friday at 10 am. Penguin is doing about the same this morning as she was last night. I will go get that rooster booster from tractor supply soon. Is it the type of thing I just put directly in her throat?

Yes. You give it administer it orally with a syringe.

I do not have tube feeding supplies
I would recommend getting them. If she has stopped eating and drinking, this will help keep her hydrated and feed till she can make it to the vet appointment.

Vets really need to start keeping some spots open for emergencies. I know in some places, mostly large cities, they have Emergency clinics, but not everyone has access to them! So especially in places like this, they need some sort of plan.

This has been bugging me for a long time. I know they are overworked and there are not enough vets in some areas, but doesn't it weigh on their conscience that animals are potentially dying? "I'm sorry your dog got run over by a truck. We have a spot open two weeks from Monday. Is that good for you?"

Sorry, rant over.

Yeah... there is an emergency vet near me but last time I brought a duck there I ended up spending nearly 1000 dollars just to get back a duck in much worse shape than when i brought her there, and she died within an hour of getting back from the vet.

I am going to get the rooster booster from the tractor store now. Any other medicine I should pick up while I'm there?
I don't know if yours carries any antibiotics, but that may be useful too. Vitamin b complex on top of the rooster booster would be a good idea. And if they carry supplies for tube feeding, I would have them on hand. It sounds like you may need to tube feed.

I had a duck that was fine in the morning. That afternoon I brought out treats and she didn’t get out of the pond ( this was not normal ) I helped her out for her to take a few steps and collapse. She tried moving with her wings out but couldn’t stand up
I brought her in thinking it was an injury maybe from my drake but that evening she wasn’t better and was feeling really warm on her legs and beak
I got her to the vet for after hours and she died on the table mins after we got there
We had an autopsy done and they found a few bad spots by her heart as well as a penny in her stomach
I don’t have Pennie’s but ducks dig and she must have found one in the ground
The vets told me there was nothing I could have done to save her
My girl went from fine to gone in less then 12 hours

I would try the charcoal plus the poultry cell
If you are able to give her bath time where you can monitor in case she needs out but can’t get out
If this is some kind of leg issue the water therapy will help

While I do agree it sucks, there a lot of people who don't bring in animals unless it is an emergency. That means there will be a lot of animals trying to come in with emergencies at the same time. They can't always help.
