Woot woot!!!! Congrats! Pics please!!! :D

Pics as soon as he's out of the incubator! (yup, hoping for a roo to cover my black girls with and make blues). This chick is calm, sitting there all plumb, looking like a buddah ~gotta love these plump Orp babies. His hatch mate 'Loudy' is about to drive me crazy, woke me up several times last night, ear plugs are a must today. Will be slipping that one under a broody ASAP!!

Apple Pie Moonshine

Here is a basic recipe for the legendary apple pie moonshine. It’s really easy to make, and you don’t even need moonshine (though you can’t... really call it apple pie moonshine if you don’t use moonshine.)

Ingredients:

1 gallon apple cider
1 gallon apple juice
3 cups white sugar
8 cinnamon sticks
1 liter bottle of 190 proof moonshine or grain alcohol

Directions
1.In a large stock pot, combine the apple cider, apple juice, sugar, and cinnamon sticks.
2.Bring it to a boil, then take it off the heat and allow it to cool.
3.Add the liter of high proof liquor.
4.Pour this into mason jars, put the lids on, and let it mellow out. You could drink it right away, but it does get better after a couple of weeks.

This recipe makes about 9 quarts of apple pie moonshine. You could easily cut this recipe in half if that is too much.

Warning! Apple pie moonshine will sneak up on you! This stuff is so smooth and tasty. Use with CAUTION!

Chad did not.
HA!

If'n you don't have real moonshine, just put quotes around it on the labels. Apple Pie 'Moonshine' Drink a couple swigs and you won't care if it has quotes or not. Tasty stuff! That was the same recipe I used, but with honey in place of sugar, and added some crystallized ginger, cause I add it to everything.

try a heaping tablespoon of nutmeg.

Oh joy, today the girls are moving outside...now my house can go back to smelling like cigarette butts and stale beer.

Woo hoo! Love "kick their butts out of the house day". I tossed out my 3 white ameraucanas yesterday. We are working on coops to get the rest of the bantam Cochins out!

If all goes as planned, my grow out pen will be finished today & 100+ juveniles & meaties will be headed outside to their new home. I will still have around 100 babies in 2 brooders (1 in the house & 1 in the basement) but at least most will be going out. I have another 3/4 of a bator full currently hatching/in lockdown & 2 more bators & the other 1/4 of that bator full of eggs. 11 babies hatched over the past 3 days.

At least he has the snorkel coming out of the right end. However, I suspect a serious case of frostbite and shrinkage was in his future!
