OK, hand off completed, no law enforcement seen, lol...chicks are riding to their new mama under our heat plate boot box set up we use for emergency chick care. It actually plugged into the vehicle inverter plug!

Just checked on my poults and the rest of the flock. It seems as if the turkey hen has almost completed the adoption process, per say. Mama chicken is roosted up high again while the turkey mama is on the floor with the poults. When I tried to check out turkey mama and poults, she got up and moved, and the poults went running. She went and Looked for them, called for them. The broody chicken mama screamed also, but didn't leave her roost. The mama turkey wouldn't calm down until she had "her" babies back. I wonder if this will break her broodieness, since she seem to think they are hers now!

This has been very interesting to watch. I need to start a chicken journal so I can have this all writtten down.

That's too cute! Yesterday, my broody turkey tried to kill a day old chick instead of adopting it. She ripped the down competely off the poor little guy the whole way around his neck. She will be going to the next swap with me. I will not tolerate a nasty bird. She's not even friendly when she's not broody
