Been MIA for a little while, and still catching up on posts. Between me being sick (almost like morning sickness, but I know it's not) and appointments I'm so far behind on everything, except the animal chores, it's not even funny.
Welcome to all the newbies and hi to everyone who's been here

I wanted to check about something real quick before I continue on my catch-up. I was thinking of making a side trip to a breeder in Canada, when I go to the family cabin next year, for Chanteclers. Would anyone else be interested in going in on this venture with me? Since this is a breed I want (since they're so cold hardy) and they are somewhat hard to find here in the U.S. I did the research and as long as they come in via a land port (ie the Thousand Islands) they only need a health cert from a Canadian vet, and there's no quarantine time required, same goes for hatching eggs.
Cost would be dependent on number of birds/eggs and how much the health cert costs, I haven't gotten that far with the research yet as I want to see if I'm going alone on this. I don't know if this breeder has other breeds I was only looking into the Chanteclers, but I can check if anyone else is interested in bringing in what would almost assuredly be new blood to any flock.

I would be very interested! Depending on timing I may prefer eggs over live birds (if we have a broody at the time) but it is a breed that was on my 'short list' but I haven't found yet locally.

I'm kinda just throwing this out there.....

I realize it's like walking into AA and asking if anyone ever walked into a bar and wanted to own their own bar.....

So anyway....Has anyone ever just wanted a cornucopia of animals and figured on justifying it as having your own petting zoo.....just for your family and friends....or just wanted to get drunk with a llama.....

I have been eyeing animals up....alpacas for sale.....dwarf nigerian goats....emu.....and a lot of really cool birds! .......a donkey....a potbelly pig named wilbur.............

So has anyone ever felt like this?

Hello, my name is Anne and I like animals. :yiipchick

Is there a 12 step program? My dream is to have some acreage and chickens, alpacas, dogs, a goat or two etc. Also a huge garden and orchard. I was never interested in turkeys, but keeping up with Aunt Kat's progress has been very interesting... Baby steps, though, we have to do these things responsibly. :D All three of our current pets are rescues or rehomed, and it would be nice to provide homes for animals who are no longer wanted or deemed "useful".

5 dogs, 5 cats, 1 parakeet, 55 gallon fish tank, 2 geese, 15 ducks, 1 turkey (going to chad), 2 goats, 1 horse, 3 rabbits, 75+ chickens, and I am always looking to expand!

I have some birds for sale right now. I am getting my grow out pen over cocci right now. I have not had it before, and I don't ever want it again.............................

Once everybody is healthy for sure, this will be my for sale list.

3 Millie Fleur D'uccle, one pullet, one cockerel, and a ???
2 SLW Cockerels, these are not hatchery birds!

I will have a bunch of different 2012 hatched hens for sale, the prices would start at $10. You can look at my signature to inquire about the possible breeds I have available.
