I found a great website with quality info on how to start seeds in a mini greenhouse
and/or one of the metal shelved / plastic covered small greenhouses that Tractor Supply sells!
I was doing a bunch of things wrong, now I can fix them.

The house will be much dirtier once this weather breaks. You will be outside wishing you had a port-a-potty near the coop. You will realize that its way past time that dinner should have been made, laundry wasn't done...again, dogs haven't been fed and the house has been a mess for months because the only time you come in the house is to go to bed lol. I've been told several times to go out and live with the chickens

Are you looking into theCrystal ball that is my future? I've already lost track of time and neglected the house putzing around in the garden. I'm doomed now!

Look how big my nuggets have gotten in just a week!

They do grow quick! Got them Thursday, and Wowza! We already have some perched on the ledge! It's fun to weigh them on the food scale (in grams). It's amazing to see them putting on weight so quickly.

Speaking of which, any ideas for alternate chick snacks/food for week old chicks? Thanks!

@AnneInTheBurbs I remember your exact feelings! You'll look back in 3 years and just have an amazing sense of pride. With my 3 year chicken-keeping anniversary approaching, I can't help but smile at all of my little newbie questions and mistakes. I'm no poultry expert, but I've sure come a LOOONG way from March 27th, 2011 when my little barnyard mix Chippy hatched.

I'll put a picture of my packets of seeds later! I have so much to grow, my garden is more than doubling in size.

I'm taking Honors Biology next year, so hopefully I'll be able to keep up with the whole genetics discussion!

Foundation update-while he was at work, I managed to set 3 of the post bases (2 of which included digging holes :/) once he got home, we did 1 1/2 together but there were some serious tree roots in the way. Supposedly, it's up to me to try to get the last two done tomorrow. Sigh, I hope I have energy tomorrow lol
