One of our pencil hens hatched out a clutch today...
Mindy watching and trying to count them I think!

They don't stay still very long!




I think Mindy is still trying to figure out how to sneak them into the house so she can watch them all the time! LOL

There is the amazing chicken lady, Mindy!! I love seeing her with them!! <3 can you tell dogs are my first love!!! lol I wish mine would be nice instead of killing them, except hunting! Darn springers is it too much to ask ha ha ha

I love seeing everyones pictures and reading all the great info.
I don't get on as much as I like and sometimes have a hard time knowing what to say. I am working on being more social and this page is really helping.
Also I have an update on my coop. Little bit more to do here are updated pics. My now wondering how to insulate after reading thru the last 4 pages.

Looks sweet!!! That small I wouldnt worry about insulating it either, just enough top ventilation and the correct roosting board and your good!

of course, by the time I got my camera out, the chickens had taken off to something more interesting in the woods and I wasn't following. Too many spider webs lately.

LOL why are they so terrible this year, good grief, year of the spiderzzz or what!!

Chickens produce a lot of body heat!

Speaking of body heat! OMG meaties!! when I pick up our CornishX and put the lazy bums inside they are so HOT! and mushy LOL!! Gonna get some good breastesses meat!

Lol Sally is molesting the chicken breasts lol. Cornish x's do give off extra body heat I think. My chicks were always so hot. I didn't need to put a heat lamp on them, just a normal light bulb. Still to hot lol. The ones we did this spring had some nice, big juicy and yummy breasts!!!!

12/14, but still great! They were eggs from Dheltzel, I don't have a Roo. So he clearly has some good lines...

There is a ton of new spider webs in my yard too. I keep finding new ones with my face lol

I am short (4 foot 11 3/4 inches tall) my hubby is 6 foot 2 inches tall. I walk out of the house first and I manage to miss the spider webs. Hubby gets stuck in the spider webs. He curses me for being so short.

And about 50 youngsters ready to sell when i can get the time to advertise them.... but they will be sold before cold weather....
And 2 broodies due to hatch within the next 10 days.

I should know better than to ask a chicken enthusiast how many they have. You'll never get a straight answer like "12". Haha. I know, I do the same thing when people ask me!
