Longtime lurker, & I actually can't remember if I've bothered to introduce myself yet! NW Pennsylvania here (Meadville area, anyone?).
Have a small, indulgent, ornamental, backyard pet flock.
They aren't pulling their weight, but they make me laugh.

And isn't that all that matters? Haha.

Sooo, wanted to give yenz and update. I have put my little girls back in the pen..

I was checking my older girls and noticed all my older girls sept for 2 have the smell snot. So I'm just gonna treat them all. They were all so upset last night and this morning when I was separating them. I don't think the will ever come to me again..lol. I'm gonna say a BIG BIG prayer that god is gonna help my girls and they are gonna be ok. As for my 3 eggs that might hatch on the 3rd... well think I'm gonna have to bring momma on the porch. Just to keep the babies safe.

Why did you put the lil girls back in general population? I would still keep them separate. If they are the carriers and it sounds like, I would keep them all apart and treat them. IDK if that is proper, but I wouldn't put them all together if there is a chance the younger ones may have to go if they have it bad. Treat them all, and your older gals should rebound quicker. And being you just cleaned the coop and run and all.

And you know!? I was in the pen tonight talking to the girls. They were all talking, I just couldn't understand. As I sat on the bucket holding my GLW I looked at the rest and said, " You know I'd like to know who is laying that one egg a day, and I was told if I stick three fingers up your butt I can figure out who is laying. So lets make it easy for all of us and why don't you all start laying so I don't have to do that and you don't have to go through that!" The looks I got were a lot like the one on my avatar right now. It was that look of " Your gonna do what!?"

Has anyone had eggs shipped in from other states? I am looking at an auction on ebay and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a problem.

I have several times. Hatch rate on shipped eggs generally runs at or below 50%. I would ask them about there packaging. It can make a difference....

Hi everyone, I have just found out that I most likely have Coryza disuse in my flock. I am so stressed out right now. I do not have the money to give all of them meds for the rest of there lives. My older girls look great its the young ones that I just got 2 weeks ago that are all getting sick. So I'm being told to cull all of my flock. I'm not happy right now. I'm a newly single mom and don't know if I can start all over again.

But if by the grace of god... and I know he can to all things, I can get more SOON. How to I go about sanitizing my coop and pen?

I have a mama chicken that is laying on 3 eggs and they are due on the 5Th, what do I do?

How long till I can get new chickens?

I am soooo freaking sad right now, I cant stop crying. I love those stupid chickens and now have to tell my 3 and 2 year old that we have to put them all down!

Does anyone know where I can go to get HEALTHY almost laying hens for a good price? Nothing special. I had a mixed flock.

Please let me know if anyone has any info. I live near Apollo Pa. My kids are just sooo upset. We are going to say goodbye tonight. And I will be leaving tonight to take them somewhere so the ex and do what needs to be done. I feel like the worst parent ( kid and chicken mom) in the world!

What symptoms are you seeing? Coryza has a smell. A very awful smell.

There are a few up there. Twin Maple and Obsessively are two of them. My opringtons and brahma are also for there.

my rate has varied from 0 to 70%, packaging, temperature, and distance seem to all be factors.
