Only thing I am debating is worring about the eggs in the bator or just consider them a loss....

Stay safe everyone, I will be on tonight at least until the satelite looses signal.... and when the dish goes for TV its bedtime!
Did you remember to stock the liquor cabinet ????

OH NO,,,,,,I just went to lockdown the bator of quail, and instead they are hatching, did I figure wrong ?but I figured I could keep the temps up in the incubator even if we lost electric, but how am I gonna keep baby quail warm...

Oh CRUD! But CONGRATS on the HATCH!!!

We are ALSO debatating bringing the 10 partrbrahma chicks in from the brooder/coop. That way I wont have to worry about running them with the generator too, plus you cant run the generator 24/7 or you wont have gas! We have a coal stove in the basement and the garage is down there too, so I can leave the door open and keep them warm, but that means I will have to go out and dig some wire up to make a ring for them, then run out for straw and then catch the little buggers :(

When you look at the learning center, it says if you are terrified of your rooster, get rid of it. I am not terrified. I just know he goes crazy sometimes. I also know he cannot be trusted with children. It then says carry him around.
My question is, do I ...
A. Kill him
B. Try once more
C. Keep doing it as necessary
D. Do it once a week no matter what

If he lived with me, he'd be dinner.

PentaMom! OUCH!! And 5 kids....oh boy!

My Black Orps haven't gone broody, but my Lemon Cuckoo Orps have.

I hope everyone is okay in the storm. It sure was nice to have NewToFarming from GA stop in and wish us well. Everyone have their candles and Parcheesi ready?

Okay, gotta go out and check on everyone again.

Pentamam,,,,,,OUCH !!!!
Angelchix,,,,Yes he struts with his chest puffed out, it's kind of funny with him being so small
Motorcyclechick...I have never had any luck turning roosters around after they started that...for me 3 strikes and they are out.

I have never had any of my orp's go broody, but the 3 silkies spend more time broody than egg laying, I ended up building extra nest boxes just for the broodies.
This is what I was trying to say before..maybe that the breed as a whole have good Mothering-traits, but that doesn't necessarly mean that all/ every will go-off broody...but I will continue with the research...I'm still interested in the little darlins-(orps)......sorry to barge in, was out-took awhile to "catch-up"..thank you
