We'll be waiting to hear, and sounds like you have a great support group behind you, be sure to have plenty of feed for them and a safe place for them to live at your place for a while till they get acclimated to their new home. Maybe you can find someone that will be willing to adopt some of the domesticated ducks after you get your geese home. Gosh if I lived close I'd be there in a heart beat.

I wouldn't go after dark unless you have some sort of good light, because they may sleep on the water, early morn just at day light might work out better. Unless your hoping to do it at night so no one sees you.
Or go down this eve, and see where they are and decide then when is the best time.

Well I have school during the week so I planed on doing it to night after dark to stay under the radar I will just hope they sleep on the edge of the lake

I hope they are on the edge. Probably under a bush or tree too although, mine like sleeping out in the open. If it were me I would honk a low, deep honk and see if they answer. Good luck!

Sounds like a plan, I'm not telling you not to try just be prepared for what ever when you get there. Hopefully they will be on the edge or under a bush. and like crj says making a low honking noise may help you locate them.

Most ducks and geese will stay at the waters edge or out on the water during the night. Usually in a fairly open spot so they can spot danger. Catching them at night on open water is typically harder than during the day. If they are tame enough that the geese and ducks will come to you in the dark, you may have a chance.

Good luck with your rescue, hope all goes well. I can't imagine how someone would dump such beautiful sebbies, I drove three hours one way to get three goslings last summer! The people who dump their ducks and geese like that should be dumped in the middle of yellowstone park, far away from civilization, see how long they last!

Sorry,

but any kind of animal you buy, or take in or whatever it is your responsibility for their care.

We would all be there to help if we could, again good luck.
