Aren't the chickens eating the grasshoppers?

Yes, they love them. Challenge; only have 6 hens and only out 4 - 5 hours a day as I don't have a fence around most of my yard (1 acre with half in barb wire. Don't really want them wandering too far.
Also have some hawks.
With what seems as hundreds of grasshoppers, don't see how they can get them under control

Wow. Sure they are grasshoppers and not cicadas? Around here the cicadas have been and gone though. I have only seen grasshoppers like that once, years ago in NM. Sorry I am not much use to you.

This is my question too. If they are cicadas, they should be gone in a few weeks. Usually by the end of June they are gone.

Grasshopper!

We only get a few of them, not enough to be a nuisance. It's funny watching the chickens chase them.
