Yes, please be specific! We take these things very seriously, so if there are any problems, we want to be able to reproduce them (this helps us identify if it's truly a BYC issue or an isolated single-member issue) and then fix them.

If any other members or visitors are experiencing problems, please let us know ASAP!

This actually happened to me twice where it said I have a virus with this site and I use safari on a MacBook. When it happens I just closed out the page and reopened it and it was fine. If it happens again ill take a picture and put it on this thread so y'all can try to fix it

Great distinction! Those "ads" slip through the various ad-networks and we do all we can to report and try and squash them!

So, those examples aren't an actual "virus", but are very misleading ads trying to get people to click.

I never hit on bait on "Phisher-men's hooks". Emails/websites/MMS messaging. Think before you click everybody. It's high time for internet users to become more savoy.
Be careful everyone. Use common sense. As far as clicking off site- "just say no".

This actually happened to me yesterday, first time ever.
I shut the computer down so fast with out even thinking to get a screen shot.

And it happened when I first opened the home page, before I signed in.
Mac safari too.
Hasn't happened today.

Yup, totally agree! We try to deploy as much technology to keeping spammers, viruses, etc. off our community, but all internet users need to be diligent about what they click.

I opened my Safari browser.
Typed in www.backyardchickens.com
As soon as the home page appeared some thing took over the whole home page and said something like "warning...blah blah blah...."


I didn't look at it for more than a second before I turned the computer off.
I had never seen something like that before so I have no clue what it was.

I know never to click anything if I don't know what it is. I knew it was a fake virus just to get people to click on it.

I hope it doesn't happen again but I will keep an eye out and will get a screen shot if it does.


I pretty much stay logged in all day so I will try to log out more often to see if I can experience it again.

That's helpful, and clarifies that these are probably bad-ads getting through Google and other network's filters.

I've escalated this to our advertising guys and hopefully they can find / isolate / kill these ASAP!
