(Photos)Wet Pox? Gapeworm? CRD? Rooster with SEVERE mucus & lesions everywhere inside mouth

He looked very similar to a roster I had and was bonded to before, and his eyes looked so sad... he had been at the shelter for 2 months. His hens were immediately adopted, but nobody ever adopted him.. he just sat at the shelter.

I feel so sad for him, and he only got to be away from the shelter for a few days before dying.

I asked the woman in charge of chickens at the shelter if he was being given any medications and she said “Ramble is all healed up and not on any meds”.

Wow. Shame on them. I'm sorry you went through that. Well done in your efforts to help him. :hugs

Update:
He died the next day... any input on if it was gapeworm or something else?
Very sorry for your loss. :hugs
Since gapeworms are rare in chickens and respiratory diseases are not, my best guess would be some sort of respiratory disease.

I know it's too late now, but did you know that California residents have access to $20 necropsies through the UC Davis CAHFS labs? We can also use their FedEx account number for shipping which makes shipping them overnight ~$20.
