Pick up your horse poo!

Eeesh, I moved out in the woods from the city and even I think it's stupid to gripe about horse manure. I can understand if they went on paths people were very commonly walking on... which is unlikely the scenario here... but otherwise, it's just a lump of fertilizer and even then anyone with sense would know to look where they were going on a horse trail or at the very least wear proper footwear for it. Granted, I grew up in the country so coming to the woods is like home sweet home to me.

P.S. I'm one of those people with the security lights - but it scares the bears off so they stay. XD

I just don't get city people moving to the country to get away from it all, and then trying to pass laws against country living. We just had it here. The city people decided we needed zoning because farmers were leaving their tractors out in the fields were people could see them. Huh? Zoning was defeated by 99%, but it cost our small township $3500 to have it put on the ballot.

Wow. And I thought our city having Code Rangers (citizens trained in code enforcement so they can properly tattle on their neighbors -way to improve neighbor relations by adding a map that shows where the CRs live-) was bad.

Okay... so you're plodding along the highway (I picture the 'old highway' that leads to my Dad's house... two lane but the limit is 55 (and who listens to that) ... and your horse drops an apple. You are expected to stop, dismount, pick it up, and carry it on to where you are going. I understand cleaning up after oneself, and in 'town' I would think that's okay... but the 'old highway' is called that because it isn't The Highway anymore. It's a two lane road that leads to ranches, and at 55+ MPH.

If I were in your shoes, I would look up ALL the cases of officers that have been hurt or killed in traffic stops because drivers clipped them. A horrible thought unto itself. Those men and women do NOT get the respect (or pay) they deserve, but that's another rant. The point is that it happens all too often that officers (and citizens) are hurt on shoulders every day. It is NOT safe to pull to the side and do your business (ticket, flat tire, whatever) anymore. People will HIT you, and sad to say many will just keep driving leaving a wounded person (and/or animal) lying there to die without a second thought. I would bring up these tragedies as an example of what can happen to people who stop in busy traffic or high speed limit areas. Stopping to shovel manure (that BTW helps the plants grow, people PAY for it) is a threat to your safety. As a taxpayer you've got just as much right to be ALIVE (if not more) than the snobs have the right to clean tires. (btw what the heck kind of OCD clean freak do you have to be to want your tires of all things to be clean? Have they sued the city to get them to ban the rain that makes mud too?)

Meh... sorry for the rant but that's just INSANE. A perfect example of too much freakin' government IMHO... one more reason I'm proud to be a Libertarian.

Wow. They wouldn't like it around here. Its amish country. There is always horse poop on the roads.

I ride in a neighbor hood and IF the horses were to go I would kick it off of the road and make sure it was not in their yards. But my horses are embarrassed and prefer to use the stall.

I have horses, but I also run retail stores in a community that has a growing Amish population. I don't mind at all the poop on the roadside. I do however mind the piles of manure left in our parking lots when they tie the horses to our cart corrals. We should not have to walk through it or push carts through it. I love seeing them on the roads. Love having them in the community. It comes down to common sense (which is not very common afterall). If it's in a place that others may have to step....or where it may effect anything negatively...clean it up.
