Having them BOTH start laying 3 days later: Priceless!
That's funny. how were they being treated by their previous owner? They could have stopped laying due to stress. what breed are they?
The family I got them from said they are Rumpless Ameraucanas and that they are 13 months old. I don't think they were being treated badly or anything, I think the girls just never got comfortable enough where they were to start laying. I'm pretty sure they were kept in their little coop and run all of the time, while at my house they get to run around the backyard all day with my 18 other pullets and 2 roos. I'm so thrilled! They are my first layers!
Of course, they are not rumpless Ameraucanas. That breed is not rumpless. What color eggs are they laying? Post pictures of them for us!
I really have no idea what they are, so any info on them would be helpful! It's a little blurry, but here they are. They don't have any beards or tufts.
And here are the first 2 the eggs the smaller one, Louise, laid. She started laying a day before Thelma.
Such beautiful eggs! I'm glad they have a happy life now
How lucky is that!
So COOL!! Congrats on the first eggs; very exciting!
Thanks everyone! Now if only my other girls would get the hint and start laying too...
