Piecing Quilt...my Iron QUIT! ( Top Complete! New Pic post 56!)

This has lots of pieces! There are 1392 pieces not counting the sashing strips and borders. Each block has 40-something pieces in it x 30 plus the corner squares on the sashing. This isn't a two day piecing job, for sure. I have just 9 blocks finished and I've been hoofing it, too. There are extra pieces cut because she was going to make it a King rather than a Queen, but heck, it will be enough work just to finish it as shown in the photo above!

Correction: I now have 10 blocks made. Only 20 to go.

At this rate, it will take me a month to piece this thing!

2nd correction: as of 11 p.m. Thursday night, I have 12 blocks made, plus a good part of the 3rd set of six done (there are 5 sets of 6 diff combinations). I'm going pretty fast, but almost 1400 pieces takes awhile.

3rd correction: as o 10:30 tonight, I have 18 blocks made and am starting to piece the fourth variation of stars. Just 12 more to go, then sashing and borders.

Well, I have a good DH who lets me push through projects while he watches the birds and the dog. Couldn't replace that man in a million years! It's not the best job, but at least I didnt make any cutting mistakes (since I didn't have to cut this one out--thanks, Kathy

Some people don't like the cutting aspect of quilting. I have insomnia, and when I lived in Iowa I used to enjoy sitting on the floor in front of the TV cutting out quilt pieces. I say used to because I have so many quilts cut out that I finally quit doing that! LOL I need to get busy and put a few of them together!

When I get all the blocks put together, I'll take a picture for you so you can see how your fabrics worked out.

Gosh, if I cut out quilt pieces when I was up that late, it would be a wild quilt-I bet nothing would fit, LOL!

Most of those fabrics came with the kit, and are Thimbleberries fabrics. Then, I just added some more. Do you like the Thimbleberries fabrics? My favorite will always be Jinny Beyer fabrics, but I do like Lynette's Thimbleberries fabrics, too. I notice a big difference when you have quality fabrics, do you?

Oh, my goodness, I sure do see a difference with quality fabrics! The texture, the body, the strength, etc. They're awesome. I like both Thimbleberries and Jinny Beyer. The fuchsia fabric I used on my Random Quilt was a Jinny Beyer that you sent me. So gorgeous and rich-looking.

I'm almost finished with the last set of six blocks. Then sashings, including corner "posts", then borders and voila! Will have pics as soon as I get the sashings on. Hopefully, it will go together without a hitch.
