Actually it is cheaper to buy one at auction here in Indiana. Around $70 or more for 200# hog. Cost $190 to have it butchered. So around $2 a pound. We did 3 at home last year. Saved $540(averaging in the cost of grinder). I have grinder and got a cuber for Christmas. We already had the rest:wrap,Mandrel, hoist,paper, tape, magic marker. We did not make chitterlings, Souse, or bologna! I have not made a smoker yet; but have plans and material. That really is the kicker is smoking it!
