I'm surprised. Yesterday she brought a feral mate with her and they engaged in public displays of affection on our expansive roof top. We all thought we heard them above the porch ceiling trying to nest.

Found her in there this morning and decided to leave her in till after feeding to give my cockbird a chance to seduce her. Planning to let them fly later and see what she chooses.

She is a beauty! Have you put a nest bowl out for her? If you're wanting to keep her I'd let her go to nest first then let the others out. When she gets into routine hopefully she will be a happy camper and realise how much better life is with you! And three square meals a day isn't bad!

Haven't seen her again since.
Here are my 3 youngest flock members. Only days away from leaving the safety of their nest boxes. A friend is bringing me some clip on rings... Strange to see them bare legged. Doo's single pied baby hatched a day after the red and blue check nest mates. Their mom Chenoa has been missing for 3 days now. She loved to fly.

yay! shes so cute! I bet she stays. if not, she might make regular trips to 'grandmas house' for peanuts

ALL good flight paths lead to the Dragon Loft
Good to add diverse genes into the POOL
Run by me as to which male pigeon you would like to pair her up with.
You might need to place them into confinement,,,,,,, until some Hoochie Coochie happens

And three square meals a day isn't bad!

You and I think alike.... If I received such good treatment, and comfort,,,,,, why leave???

She got right to work, chose a pied cock as her mate, layed 2 eggs, hatched 2 live chicks which survived to banding. At that point it was observed that parents were feeding mainly one chick and letting the other go hungry. We decided to intervene and save the little one. It was cold enough, in the single digits, that we decided to feed both babies and keep them inside overnight. LSS? Long story short, we have 2 ash red cockbirds out of this nest. I think they both might be red grizzles. Sorry I don't have good pics of them. They just started eating on their own and I sold them today to Mr Song who has a number of birds out of my loft.

I'm happy to let Dragon Loft birds chose their own mates. Ash red feral was impresed with the 'nanny service' provided - where the chicks were taken inside at night to be fed and kept warm, then brought out again in the day when it's daddy's turn on the nest!
