Pigeon Talk

Ah good info! Mine are not very heavily feathered, I don’t think. Not like my bantam cochin chickens anyway. I have had 2 chicken chicks get tangled around leg feathers. Luckily I caught both mommas dragging the chicks lol

What do you think?

On one vid I saw that type of feathering called 'bootleg'.:love

Oh by the way, no babies yet.
In my loft I've had hatches anytime of day - morning, noon or night. It can't be long now. :pop

Oh giv ethe birds a bath so that when they sit on the eggs it will help soften the shells. Just a tip.

They have a bowl of bathing water in the pen at all times. The other morning, it was frozen solid and the female was standing on the ice! I actually poured more water on top to help melt it. Later I dumped the ice and added new water. Next time I looked, it was dirty, so someone is bathing.

I’m glad you guys are as almost as excited as I am. I just looked in on them, Bonnie is out in the run, Clyde is cooing on the nest. I couldn’t see anything moving or tell if anything is happening. I just look thru the window, not messing with him, I don’t want to upset him.

The sun is shining today and our temps have warmed up considerably since the cold snap we had for a few days. Poured the rain last night though, so humidity is high.

The weather's a bit rubbish over here but the birds needed out. I put the bowl down for them to bath in whilst I cleaned them out!

:love Hard to believe it all started with Boomer not that long ago! I too like to have the birds out of the loft when I clean so they don't raise dust flapping their wings. That's why I've taken to feeding in the big aviary while I scrape inside.

I see you have a new signature line and I did my research ...:lau

Also, you guys and gals have been an absolute life line to me. Especially you @biophiliac. I love hearing about everyone's birds and I love sharing mine. Sorry if I'm gushing but it makes me happy being a part of this community! :D
Gush away.. :hugs
I love all you peeps.. and I dont even have pigeons ..yet! ;)
Oh yeah i LOVE byc! Especially the pigeon side of things. There is a small pigeon team here!

We are going to go get a few tablets from the guy to hold us over real soon. @biophiliac yes im excited to see if they work also! If they do i would reccomend everyone getting some. It treats cocci, e coli, intestinal tract stuff and another one i cant remember. 30$ for 100 tablets.
Hope it helps! :fl
Is this going to be your next step.
:gig :lau

Wow i just cleaned out my breeders 6 by 8 coop and its a workout! But i dont think any of the others are sick. We got a couple tablets off of the very nice homing pigeon breeder and i got one down.

@Fields Mountain Farm have you decided on a loft plan yet?

@WVduckchick any news on the eggs!?
Glad no others are sick! :hugs

Not yet.. dh hasn't said yes yet... no point in "counting pigeons before they hatch".. Once I get the ok I'll work on deffinet plans..:pop
It is worst than I thought I am now down to 35 birds.
Despite the three that returned.

I still have hope for a few late arrivals.
:(:hugs
I am hoping I miscalculated I know 3 of the 7 made it back. I must have lost a couple on a loft fly I am thinking.

I will have to check every nook and cranny I may have a pair nesting out of sight as well.
:fl:fl:fl
We all sound like a bunch of expectant parents. Good morning.
:lau:gig:gig

Im so excited for you! I hope the lil buggers hatch soon and do great!!! :hugs :fl :pop

There's certainly alot of excitement and antipation in the air at the moment! I hope your missing birds soon make safe return @Hokum Coco I know how much of a worry it is.
I was cleaning mine out today and they come land on the roof whilst I'm in there. This is a great photo!
