Pigeon Talk

This is what I use. $12.99 for 35#. Used to be 9.99, could sometimes find it for 8.99.
Probably not the best nutrition mix, but my birds seem to do fine on it. About once a week, I’ll mix half of the daily serving with layer crumbles.
I was running low the other day and couldn’t get to tractor supply, so I bought a bag of “premium wild bird seed” from dollar general, a 6# bag was around $7!
I was thinking about doing something similar but all the wild bird seed mixes have cracked corn and was always told to watch out for it because it could cause sour crop?

Made it through the blizzard

I feed versele laga, it’s a good brand. They make pellets, grit, medicines, etc as well.

AAARRRGH!!!! I adjusted my Chewy autoship order - lots of cat food - and hit "ship now" today - and only just now that I came back to BYC did I remember that I WAS SUPPOSED TO ADD PIGEON FOOD!!! Grrrr. (I think I still have a couple weeks' worth of food left so will try again next week, & throw in some cat food to make free shipping.)

Chewy used to have a whole bunch of Brown's mixes and I had just noticed a while ago that they had added the Versele Laga, but they still had Brown's. Now I only see one Brown's listed and it's out of stock, so it seems they're switching over. I know that Versele Laga is a good name - or at least a "big" name in pigeons, I've seen it mentioned in various contexts - but I always wonder what particular mix to get. I do overthink things!

I feed Blue Seal's pigeon feed, and the birds seem to like it. I've also used another brand from a different feed store when mine was out of Blue Seal, but I can't remember the name now.

Right at the moment I'm feeding from a tiny bag of dove seed from Petco, because my feed store didn't have pigeon feed, didn't order it in for the next feed shipment either, and left me high and dry for at least two weeks, ugh.
