I was thinking about doing something similar but all the wild bird seed mixes have cracked corn and was always told to watch out for it because it could cause sour crop? This is what I use. $12.99 for 35#. Used to be 9.99, could sometimes find it for 8.99.
Probably not the best nutrition mix, but my birds seem to do fine on it. About once a week, I’ll mix half of the daily serving with layer crumbles.
I was running low the other day and couldn’t get to tractor supply, so I bought a bag of “premium wild bird seed” from dollar general, a 6# bag was around $7!
I have given my pigeons wild bird seeds,,,, and never encountered sour crop.I was thinking about doing something similar but all the wild bird seed mixes have cracked corn and was always told to watch out for it because it could cause sour crop?
