Pigeon Talk

Well one more pigeon made it back (sort of) I was called by the SPCA someone at Canadian Tire a short distance from my home caught one of my homing pigeons. They then gave it to the SPCA and they called my phone number on the band.
I went and retrieved it yesterday.

Wow! Good news!

Yes this bird has fairly good homing instincts and has flow home from around 60 to 100 miles. It is also a pigeon I nearly culled due to a spay leg problem. I was able to remedy that situation with the aid of elastic bands. It is a 2018 squab.
It's very good to hear you have some back! I still find it a mystery they had trouble with such a short distance. Was the Tire Center bird extra thin and or hungry after several days lost? Here's hoping you find a few more of them. :fl

any cell towers gone in near your house
Is the Pope Catholic?
Yes of course but yet I do not understand why the bird did not notice any of the land marks so close to the loft. Unless (as some other member pointed out) it may have been dehydrated, exhausted, or Mal-nourished in some fashion. Which it did not appear to be when I picked it up at the shelter.

I filled feeders and both parents came out, so I got a chance for a couple pics. :love

Aren’t they? All the way down to their toes! :D

Nest sure is nasty. :sick
Imagine that nest in hot humid weather and you will understand why I swapped it out for a fresh one at least x2. Some worry that the parents won't accept that but I never had a problem. The first change I would do about 6 days when I banded them.
