Pigeon Talk

I saw her excercising her wings some already.
Your squab is fledged enough now to withstand cold in my estimation. Always check it crop to make sure the parents have not stopped feeding. A small container of grain would be a good idea to have in its reach just so he can get used to feeding on it's own along with a bit of fresh water. I sometime do that and it seems to move things along quite nicely.

Thanks. The parents have not slept in the nest the past few nights. Tonight right before dark I checked and the parents were inside, the baby had settled in outside on the ground, but I put her back in the nest bowl. The parents were on the roost above the bowl.
Crop was full tonight but I will continue to keep a check on it.

The parents chest feathers are wetter than normal. Why is that?

I continue to appreciate all the on-the-fly guidance I am receiving here. You folks have been wonderful!

It's a thrill to watch Bugsy grow, and hirs not even mine! lol Maybe the wet feathers have to do with feeding Bugsy? idk

Seems to be feeding related.

And I’m glad y’all aren’t getting tired of all the pics and questions. :D

The parents neck and also chest feathers usually become stain while they feed squabs. The pablum like substance adheres to the feathers and they remain damp. Perfectly normal even in summer when they are more apt to take baths.

Yes, and yes on the feeding related.

Well, i guess none got a pigeon for christmas? I got a bag of pigeon feed :)
