Pigeon Talk

Thanks for all your replies. We'll the good news is that she is eating....alot and drinking. She has a clean vent and apart from a broken wing looks in good health. The bad news is that I tried putting vet wrap around her and no matter how I did it she couldn't walk or it was to tight against her crop. I was maybe thinking about using a sock? I'll give her some symphytum pillules. They did seem to help lucky. I read that thread on wing amputation and I'll be honest that took some balls to do that and be successful! She did extremely well. I'm also thinking of getting charitable status then I can maybe get some funding to build a bigger loft. Kind of like A&E for pigeons:lau!
That's great shes doin well other than the wing.. im not sure how you'd go about wrapping it.. :(
If it keeps goin like it is yer gonna NEED some kind of charity funding..:lau
She's a pretty bird! She does look healthy too! :highfive:

Boomer did start this crazy journey! All I did was take in a stray!! I thought chickens could be full on but this is a bit unbelievable at the moment. I think I must be the only person, apart from my neighbour, who I don't talk too, that has anything to do with pigeons! Good luck with your pigeon trapping tonight. :flView attachment 1561307
:lau poor Boomer, gettin all the blame..:gig

I hope it goes well... Im a bit worried dh is backin out tho..:(

Give him a bag of sun flour hearts and tell him pigeons love them! Then tell him you'll cook his favourite dinner! Works on me:lol:!

I think it may have something to do with the fact that the pheasants won't be leaving till sometime later this wk, if they go, and bringing home pigeons right now may mean building a loft, which he's not quite ready to start. He and ds3 are currently building ds3s bungalow and trying to finish it before winter sets in good... Maybe I should let it go... my heart just breaks at the idea of the pigoens being killed off, if that's whats gonna happen..:th

I know what you mean. The people that went to the stables have killed over 200. The one I have with the broken wing and humf have both come from there as refugees as I see it! There is still quite alot there but more manageable. I dont know how many there are at your husbands work but I doubt they will be able to be rid of them quickly so there may be time to wait until the pheasant run is cleared. If its any consolation a friend of mine at work keeps raptors for hunting. He has a giant goshawk that managed to chew through its leather leg strap and escaped! So now we have a semi wild hungry goshawk flying around the neighbourhood!

I'm keeping them in for a few days anyway. Hopefully he'll catch it soon. Apparently it does have a habit of disappearing.
