I found the first egg of the year today but as you know I can't let them incubate.

How many eggs will they lay if you take them? Do they just keep laying, trying to get a pair to sit on?

Yes they would. That's why I will trick them with plastic eggs. It worked last year - when I remembered to make the substitution.

In my experience hens only ovulate two eggs at a time; however, if you take the eggs and leave no fake eggs they will lay another round much more quickly putting excessive stress on the hen.

I took a couple videos of Olive and I's progress bonding. She already will step up and fly to my hand when I call her, and she really enjoys petting when the mood strikes her.
