Pigeon Talk

Okay, if you insist. :p

From the time that I became mobile I was a collector of living things. I have always been intrigued by feathered creatures. So, at the tender age of 4 or 5 I had parakeets, chickens, and a best pekin buddy, Donald. Donald's story is not uplifting. Anyway my oldest sister married a really great man who to a large degree became an important male figure in my life. He took me to see a performing flock of Birmingham rollers knowing that they would interest me. Mind you that I was only 4 or 5 - I still remember seeing them and being amazed that pigeons could do that. I can't remember what I had for supper last night, but if I close my eyes and relax I can see those birds performing. They tell that when it was time to leave I cried. This freaked my sister and BIL out as I was the kid who never cried. Yeah, I know it will surprise you all, but I was a weird kid. :lau I have had a special love for pigeons ever since.
Awww! Thats so neat! :love

Ok serious question. I just vacated a chicken pen that my pigeons are going to be transferred to, after I do a few modifications.
Is there anything in particular that I should do, in relation to the fact that chickens had been there? I’ll clean out the coop when I modify it, and probably spray it down, just because.

IDK of any worries there... maybe @sourland or others?
I wondered when you would add pigeons to your signature line. Probably I missed it when it happened but well done with the CAPS for pigeons! They deserve it.:lau

I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT THEM! :gig

I was thinking I may till the deep litter. Can’t decide whether that’s a good idea or a bad idea.

I'm sort of at a loss here having never kept pigeons in a ground pen situation. I'm a little concerned about the parlor rollers being unable to fly up from the pen and getting wet/dirty. I'm sorry, but I am at a blank here.
