Pigeon Talk

So today I went to a very nice gentlemans house, and he had a very nice aviary with roughly 110 birds. They were from the middle East he said. They had slight crest on the back of their heads. He said that their record flying time was 11 1\2 hours! So they're obviously a highflyer. Any ideas what they could be? They were so pretty. He cared a lot about his birds, he talked to them a lot :) and their cage was spotless!

Nice! Sounds like a fun day!

That's awesome that he took the time to show you around and talk with you! :love:love

I’m not sure what to do.

Yesterday Brick & Brewer started venturing out of the box, and long story short, Brick ended up on the ground and I found a small bloody spot on his neck, so he had been picked on. I grabbed both squeakers and put them alone in the cage that Shadow and Java used to be in. They are now 5 weeks old, and momma was continuing to feed them some, but they seemed to be eating on their own too. Today, their crops are still empty and they don’t seem to be eating anything.

Should I wait, and cause them to figure it out, or should I try the bottle that I was using a few weeks ago when I had them inside?

Are they about 3 weeks old and eating and drinking some on their own? If so, what I would do is feed them about 30 frozen thawed peas each, once or twice a day and let them have access to seeds and water as well until they are completely weaned. To me is simpler to feed the peas than fuss with the bottle and formula mix....and it should only be a few more days.:)

Maybe just feed them once a day, lol. Don't forget to mix some grit with the seeds.

I have 2 coming along that will be exposed to the same peril. I need to get ready to separate them, perhaps in Doba's old cage. Today I banded the smaller one 1742 on day 10, 4 days later than normal. 1742 weights over the last 3 days - 90gr,, 100gr, and 130gr today. #1741 was banded on day 8, only 2 days behind normal. His weights were 130gr, 150gr and 180gr today.

Can you put their parents in with them? So they get fed. I'm sorry your having so much trouble!
