Frodo and Sam have been out having a look around the last few days.
I don't have them responding well to a feed call yet because they're so used to free feeding (they left the nest when I was away for about a week and had a gravity feeder up) and I just started them on a routine again this week but I was impressed that they both moved through the bob wires without hesitation their first try.

They look great! We' like a couple more pics for a better look please. That is such a fun age, they are learning so fast.

Your birds are all so tame. None of mine would even consider sitting on me or letting me pet them! My chickens do though! But they get a bit messy in the house and are clumsy!

Yeah Olive has a pair bond with me so she is very loving, and I can pick her up and handle her and she always wants to be touched. The canaries I have been working with a lot every day since they left the nest to get them over their instinctive fear of hands, and will come and sit on my arm for food bribes only. Which is more than the average canary will do so I am happy. We had a bit of a mishap last week and the mom canary got away and is presumed gone, it's been about a week now and so I took her four younger babies and am hand-feeding them so they should be imprinted on me and even more friendly.

Do you recommend them, or a cockatiel for a first parrot? I'm guessing cockatiel. How loud is it? Or, should I ask, is it constantly "chating"...

Budgie is the easiest to care for, some cockatiels can be very hormonal and prone to bad behavior like biting or chewing holes in your walls (from personal experience.) Though some are very sweet, they are VERY needy and do best in pairs or they tend to scream.

Ok, thanks. I like cockatiel more than keets due to size. Plus a friend of mine has both, and the parakeet screams, but the cockatiel is very calm. I know all cases very, but due to this, I think I might prefer a tiel more than a keet.

A cockatiel can make about six times the volume of the worst budgie though, if you get a more vocal one.

Ok. I'm not going to be getting a parrot anytime soon. But I still think I would get a cockatiel. Thanks for the info though.

Ask and you shall receive #71 is Frodo, #72 is Sam. These two are quite fast learners, I'm planning on taking it slow with letting them out but I don't expect them to give me any trouble.

Mr. Chipmunk paid them a visit today which I'm not sure if I like. We have an abundance of feeders here so they're pretty common, this one in particular is fearless. They get along well with the wild doves but what concerns me more is disease. Regardless, the chipmunks cant get into the actual loft so these encounters should end as soon as these two are flying.

Thank you! Seriously, I love their color/ pattern, grey griizzle with lacing on the wings. They remind me of one of my favorites, lost to a predator last year...
