Pigeon Talk

What a circus tonight has been. Its been raining pretty much nonstop since Saturday. This afternoon had been dryish so I thought I'd let them out. I caught the piebald youngster and the new one from Lincoln. The ash was in the nest bowl with the door so I shut her in. Pigeons out flew beautifully. They started to come in so I went to put the other two back in the loft as it had started to rain again. Piebald gets out. Incredibly stays here! Sits on top of the roof with the last ones to come in. It doesn't fly well as its tail feathers are pretty ragged. So I left it with the others to come in. It had been through the trap before.

Go to get the other one and it slipped under the door and fired off fast over the trees gone. I have phoned the guy at Lincoln and he will keep an eye out for it. In the meantime the rest had all gone in but the piebald was having a wash on top of the garage! Long story short, it wouldn't trap but I managed to catch it in my garage and got it back in! I think that it may well stick around now which is good. But no sign of the other one. I hope its on a tree somewhere out if the rain and will return. If not I hope it goes back to Lincoln and I'll go pick it up. :barnie
Awe, I'm so sorry. So how many are you missing?

Maybe my THEORY of Pigeon Magnet is OFFFFF.
So I have a possible new one. You serve a PIGEON SMÖRGÅSBORD like below.

Maidstone decides to stop for dinner before getting home. THEN HOME:love SWEET HOME:love
Still no sign this morning. I think the rain has broke my magnet! I am surprised that the pie stayed around. It has always been difficult to catch in the loft and very elusive. But I caught it fairly easy in the garage. I'll have to start trap training it.

I can see I never could have pigeons. I'd worry myself to death if they did not return in a timely fashion :hit
They do.....mostly. There is always the known risks and unknown elements. When you put so much work and effort in and you lose one or more it can be incredibly frustrating. But there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing them fly and return!

Its almost dark and they're not back yet.
I have had birds return home after 9 months in captivity so surprises can happen. Realistically if they are not home in 3 days I write them off. Also if ADULT PIGEONS return after my best efforts (3 rounds of offspring) to bond to my loft I let the original owner keep them.
