Pigeon Talk

My mother middle daughter is coming home from her band trip to New York City today and will see I sold two thirds of the doves. She is going to cry. :thI will feel bad. I really think I did what was best though. She will be home in an hour.
I think you did what was best. How many doves do you have now though? It sounds like they went to a good home.

She'll be OK. You did what's best. Besides if you want more they do breed quickly!

Thanks and they sure do breed quickly! I have seven white Ringnecks left plus my two pigeons are sitting on eggs. They made fast work of forming a relationship. Pan and Tink my original Ringneck couple started making googly eyes at each other as soon as their six children left. :rant
I kept two other males and three other females. One of the males is my youngest and he is somewhat spayed. I found him hatched two late to correct it. He gets along fine other than acting like he is on skates.
I also have my parrots. A conure, two quakers, several Cockatiels , a few budgies and finches. :love

I can see I never could have pigeons. I'd worry myself to death if they did not return in a timely fashion :hit
It's a feeling I'm beginning to share with you. I started with an original group of seven young birds and lost three to a Cooper's hawk and had two more chased off by a hawk and never return. As of yesterday I had four, two from the original group and then their two offspring, but now that one of them has gone missing I'm down to just three and a pair of day-old squabs.
Its frustrating, but hopefully at least I can get the one that got lost yesterday back.

@LaughingDove we'd love to see your birds!

It is a fine line in wanting them to be able to do what they were born to do — fly! Or feeling guilty for not letting them do it.
