Pigeon Talk

When you let them out to fly have you seen how they play? Mine will fly really close to one another and maybe even knock each other a little a then drop and come back round! They really enjoy it and definately seem to chase one another!
Mine will fly in a large circle, trying to 'race' each other and then one will not do a full circle and cut it in half to get ahead. They cheat!

No. Nothing in the trap either. I'm beginning to think that this bird isn't particularly good. It originally went missing and didn't return for two weeks until I trapped it and the guy picked it up. It stayed with him for a couple of weeks and then it went missing again and turned up back here. Now I've lost it and it hasn't turned up anywhere. I think that it may be turning feral as it's definitely eating out and not returning anywhere. If it does return I won't feel confident of its reliability.
I do agree with you. If it was any better than your current birds it would never have come back to you. Even with a pigeon magnet. The fancier might have kept it prisoner to breed if he thought it had a chance of winning, instead of flying it again.

I've never had any go over. Slightly early maybe but mostly nearly to the hour. Have you checked it for any signs of life?

I checked it a few days ago and it looked ok. I'll check it tonight if it doesn't hatch today. :(

Aww, I'm sorry. I've had some hatch on day 19, so don't give up yet.

I like your new avy!

Glad to hear some have gone that long. I think all my others have been day 16 or 17. But since this was a lone egg, I'm not really sure what day they started sitting on it, so maybe there is still hope.

Thanks on the avy pic too. I love it when they all line up. :D

me to. Well, not mine. They don't have a perch\branch to line up on.

so how big is your dirt floor setup? Like the whole thing? And how many sections are in it? Whenever I get land that's what I want to do. Dirt floors seem to work really well. I'm liking mine.

Oh my GOSH!! I got home a couple hours ago, both Bugsy and Skye were away from the nest. I looked at the egg, and it was crushed all the way down one side. I feared it was dead. I peeled a bit of the shell pieces away, and I’ve assisted so many chicks and ducklings, I could see that the membrane looked good. It was still warm, but I didn’t feel any movement. As I peeled more away, the beak opened! It was malpositioned and couldn’t break out. It looked like they tried to save it, but had given up. I broke it out and left it laying on the bottom half of the shell. A few minutes later, Skye went back to the nest.

I just checked, and ITS ALIVE!! :love
I got lucky to find it just in the nick of time.

Good save! That was really lucky that you caught it when you did.
