Pigeon Talk

As promised, I released the stray with mine today. She flew with them shortly then I lost sight of her. When mi e came in to land she wasn't amongst them. :( About 5 minutes later guess who returned! :)View attachment 1859157she had a good old wander around and fluttered about with mine, then I called them in for a bit of dinner and hey presto! View attachment 1859159ash is furthest away and the new red is closest on the right! Looks like I've got me a keeper!

These two birds are too funny. Rosie has been trying to inch closer and closer to Olive wherever she lays down, but if she gets too close, Olive moves over. When I open up the "coop" Olive bolts out and goes flying out the room and across the house and Rosie runs as fast as her little legs can carry her to keep up. She's been in most of the rooms available to Olive except the basemen, and no longer hides. The coop is now her safe place, and she runs there whenever something startles her - which is happening less every day.

I am petting and hand-feeding Olive a lot while in sight of Rosie to show her I am kind and she is now comfortable with my hand within ten inches of her, and she won't get up if she is laying down comfy. She watches closely as I hand Olive safflower seeds and then I will set one down next to Rosie far enough that my hand moving doesnt make her move, and she will get up to eat it. I think she will start taking treats from me soon.

She has found her voice and coos off and on all day. She doesn't coo back to me like Olive does, but she really gets vocal when Olive coos at me. As I expected, we've got a love triangle starting. So far Olive is tolerant but does not let Rosie touch her, and Rosie is tolerant of me but doesn't want me to touch her.
