I've never had any. I think I told you my grandpa used to raise prized fantails, so its in my blood already.

You'll be building a loft soon I'm sure! There has been an outbreak of Pigeon mania recently and it's very contagious!

I think I saw a thread where they mentioned they were 13 yrs old...which I believe is against the BYC rule for minors not to disclose age. Can't see it now so mods probably deleted. Would that be it?

Yes. I checked the profile and the post has gone but the user is still here. There is someone else on this forum recently who is younger so I don't know how that stands?

I think they can be on as long as they don't say their age but I'm not sure.

I believe so also. But if a mod saw it, they could have edited it without deleting. Oh well, I’m sure it happens.

I wish Doba was smart like that. She is my most skittish bird and I have adopted a hands off approach except for a dose of Aconite and a dose of Arnica. I admit I wasn't able to get a good view of her wound as she would tuck in her neck. Now that she is outside in good light I see that that back of her head was scalped more than I thought. It does seem to be healing well, nicely scabbed over and the loose feather sloughed off on their own. She was acting well when I had her inside as to eating, drinking, preening, etc.
I am a bit concerned today as I don't think she's eating much, she had a 30° temp drop when I brought her out yesterday and I thought it would be okay. But I would expect her to eat more esp in the cold. I do feel like she is not quite healed enough to go to the loft.View attachment 1562591

She is gorgeous !

You can learn a lot hanging around with us in the pigeon forum and there are many youtube videos about caring for and training them. And my advice is get homers!

They caught the goshawk. It was about 3 miles away. They used a dead chick and a quail as bait.

I think your probably right there! I did tell the DW that it is actually her pigeon as she bought it home! Unless it stays nice and cuddly in which case it's mine, but if it turns into a ninja chopping, growling monster, its hers!!

Im getting more and more jealous of you all....

I have a suggestion, although not a guarantee, to change pigeon attitudes.
Enlarge and print out below pix. Frame and hang in pigeons viewing area.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I need and don't need, housing-wise, so I was doing some googling. Have you guys seen this dream loft?? Holy smokes!

Equipment is just stuff, that doesn't make for knowledge! You have a ton of knowledge and have helped me numerous times! I'm missing a bird (again) 4 days

My husband wants to go fishing and camping this weekend. I want to stay home and work on the loft!

One of my paired females. I let 11 out on Sunday 9 returned. Then the pmv scare so no one's been out. But on Tuesday one returned, coincidentally at the same time my neighbour released his but the female is still AWOL.

I hope she returns soon!

I threaten my hens all the time with a soup pot for non egg laying..
In my henhouse I use a different approach. I know chickens LUV music, so I have a rock n roll poster in there for them..

That big loft is bigger than my house!! But, the portable one looks like a good semi compact loft for more normal people.

They can be on here but they cannot state their age or that they are underage. Even saying that they are underage, in high school, etc is frowned on.
