Pigeon Talk

I tried flying 11 today but #64 decided not to leave the loft, just watched everybody else fly off, turned round and walked back in . The other 10 flew well then the neighbour released his pigeons and they all flew together! I'm not sure if this is a good thing but it is keeping mine in the air longer! They all came back after about 30 mins. I didn't do a lob though as the weather has taken a turn for the worse. Just a question for all, how bad would the weather have to be before you didn't fly your birds? Obviously I'm not gonna fly them in heavy rain or a hurricane! But how bad would you leave it?
Maybe 64 just wasn't in the mood for a fly? :idunno

I have let mine out in a light rain thinking they would just sit on the roof and enjoy the shower - they took off and flew, not as long or as far as usual but still:confused: A few days ago there was a group of about 8 from the feral flock that briefly joined up with mine before pealing off to their home in one of the lumberyard buildings across the street. So cool you have a big group flying now! I believe I know how you feel seeing them.:D

I think that's a good answer! On any given day one or more of mine may decide to stay...dk why.

It is great watching them fly. I'm not sure what my neighbour thinks! Effectively now, my whole loft flys apart from humf. I'm not sure how to deal with him. I may leave it a couple more weeks and let him out with #64. He nevers flys too far away. The one with the broken wing is still in a cage in my living room. She looks so sad. I want to let her out in the house but I don't want to risk her wing breaking again before it's fully heald.

I feel ya! Doba is still in a cage alone and every day I tell myself I need to try her in the loft. But the back of her head and neck still has a scab and no feathers so IDK. Did you have a squab scalped? If so, how long did it take to heal?

Squeak got scalped. I never took her out the loft though. I don't think it was as bad as what doba is. It took about 4 weeks to heal completely but she did have a feather that was stuck straight up for ages after!

Speaking of baths, Java looks like he had a long one.
