Our weather is a roller coaster. November is unpredictable here.



I don’t have any! But need to order some to change out the current ones on the rollers. Although since they don’t fly, I guess they don’t even need them. Bonnie and Clyde aren’t banded.
Suggestions on where to purchase?

I think you want the IPB, Independent Pigeon Breeder bands vs the racing bands... or possibly NPA, National Pigeon Assoc. bands. OTOH, I guess there's no reason you couldn't use AU racing bands. Mostly the seamless band is only to identify the bird and its year of hatch.

I found some on eBay too. The colorful plastic clip kind look easy enough, and I was thinking I could mark them as mine, like add a sticker with my phone number, just in case. Are those bad? The personalized ones from Foys are expensive!

And I have no idea what size! I think my birds are smaller than your average racing bird??

How do you remove the seamless ones? The parlor rollers have them already, I’d rather swap them out with my own.

I had to remove one of the bird I had with the broken leg. I used a small pair of electrical wire cutters a nd it was still hard work. Some people recommend using a dremel but I couldn't imagine any of mine wanting to stay put whilst it buzzes away!

I have some very small cutters that will probably work. Made for jewelry, but very strong.
Dremel? No way I’d try that!! Lol

The ring is made of toughened plastic on the outside and has a aluminium ring inside! They are VERY tough.

If they have permanent seamless bands I would not remove them, except in an emergency like the broken leg CCUK treated. If you expect to sell pigeons I kind of feel like they should have a seamless band. You can add your own personalized clip ons if you like.

The trick was to cut a very little bit at a time, snip it and try and bend it outwards. He wasnt comfortable whilst I did it as his leg was so swollen. If you were to try and remove one from a bird without a broken leg it may be a little easier.

Just saw my little Satinette Bonnie in her nest, with Clyde standing by!

He will start bringing nesting material to her, and she will fashion a nest. Have you observed mating ? Generally eggs appear within 10 days of mating. Do not panic when he starts pecking at her and chasing until she returns to the nest. It is termed 'driving' and may serve to stimulate egg production. It is all a normal part of the nesting ritual.
