For sure! She is ok. Looks down in the dumps though. I hate seeing her stuck in the cage but it is for the best. I have had her out briefly a couple of times but I hold her wing so she can't try to flap. Another two weeks and I'm hoping I may be able to take the bandage off. Is doba still in the cage as well? Hopefully she should be on the road to recovery too.Steady hands!Howis your other patient?
If they have permanent seamless bands I would not remove them, except in an emergency like the broken leg CCUK treated. If you expect to sell pigeons I kind of feel like they should have a seamless band. You can add your own personalized clip ons if you like.
I am in awe of how you did that!![]()
He will start bringing nesting material to her, and she will fashion a nest. Have you observed mating ? Generally eggs appear within 10 days of mating. Do not panic when he starts pecking at her and chasing until she returns to the nest. It is termed 'driving' and may serve to stimulate egg production. It is all a normal part of the nesting ritual.
Why not remove them? Educate me.
And I have no idea if I will sell any or not. Probably depends on how fast they run me out of house and home.
Thank you! I bought some Belgium nest pads(?) from Foys and there are shavings inside the coop. Is that sufficient? They actually stayed inside the coop tonight, for the first time. Guess they finally figured out its a little warmer inside there.
I haven’t seen the Satinettes actually mate yet, but I’ve heard what I assume are courting sounds.I did see the male roller try to mate the female. She didn’t seem interested, so I’m not sure if he got it done or not. Only seen that once too.
Well said. You shouldnt remove them because that is your best way to keep family lines straight in your loft. Five years from now when your loft is full you may say "wow what a nice looking bird, what family did it come from?what are its grandparents? What date did it hatch? Which ones are its sibling?" I have five notebooks of just pigeon records so that i can keep everthing straight.

I like to band on day 6, never had one fall off when they're that old. Of the last 2 I banded I think one was 7 days. Up to and past that age the back toe you pull thru is very flexible like strong rubber.
Well said.
Plus they are difficult to get off and I can't think of any advantage gained by removing...
There should be a way to get the band numbers transferred to you'... maybe ask the seller? My intention was to remove the ones from the prior owner and band them myself, with my own info.

And then like Backyard Pigeons said, write those #s in your notebook and start recording the offspring with their own numbers as you band them.
