I shined the flashlight in enough to see her, she stood up to scratch her belly! Saw both eggs, couldn’t see if either were pipped or not, but definitely no hatchers yet.

I wouldnt be surprised if in the morning you have both hatched out! Mine always seem to hatch at night.

On another note, today i gave my breeders a bath and one of my squabs that just came out of the box went in and tried to flap but it was more of hopping while its wings were extended. It was quite funny.

Did you lose a few more birds?

I am hoping I miscalculated I know 3 of the 7 made it back. I must have lost a couple on a loft fly I am thinking.

I will have to check every nook and cranny I may have a pair nesting out of sight as well.

@WVduckchick do your sats have large feathered feet? If so i would trim them because the squabs could get tangled and then pulled out of the nest. I havent experienced this but have heard of others who have. But i f they are small it wont affect then at all.

Ah good info! Mine are not very heavily feathered, I don’t think. Not like my bantam cochin chickens anyway. I have had 2 chicken chicks get tangled around leg feathers. Luckily I caught both mommas dragging the chicks lol
