Pigeon Talk

Do they have nesting boxes? If not theres your prob. You need nesting boxes with bedding so they can build a nest. Do the cocks go and make sounds in a certain spot? Not just cooing but like they are calling thier mate in?
I have never heard a pigeon call but this morning I witnessed the nun pigeon, coffee bean, sort of shaking his wings and getting really up close to my helmet pigeon. Is that a mating dance do pigeons even have a mating dance?

Me to! Santa... lol
I definitely prefer the Capuchines since at least they can see where they go!:lau

I think I know how that happened to you but you are on a different platform so i'm not sure how to explain... as you begin to type the tag, look for a flag to pop up with the member name and click on it. If you simply rely on typing in the user name, those with spaces will give you trouble.

Yes it is. But for some reason when i did it it tagged the other user. Sorry @Misfits Farm 92

Edit. Sorry for all the tags! .

Also atm one of the oops babies #744 now 7 weeks is in poor shape with crop canker I believe. Gave the second pill(ronidazole, 10%) this morning. I have hir inside for warmth but she can't eat and has lost weight. She strongly resisted feeding her thawed peas. I believe this is due to significant canker lesions in the esophagus/crop area, probably making it difficult to swallow. It may have spread to her sinus as one eye is mostly closed. Lesions only became visible in the mouth 2 days ago and are larger now. She has always had a struggle being the much smaller of the squabs. The organism that causes canker is present in most pigeons but is normally suppressed by a healthy immune system. If I had started treatment sooner her chances would be better.

edit added: breathing is labored, more today than yesterday. Again, I suspect this is due to canker in the sinus and esophagus.

Dang, I hope it clears up :fl

I gave my birds corn (whole) for the first time and they LOVED it! Ill have to find some where cheaper to get othr than a grocery store! I dont think i need 50 pounds though. What do you all do for feed? Mix it or buy your own?

The mix that I buy has cracked corn in it. Mine seem to toss that on the ground and eat everything else. I’m sure they eat some of it though.

I wonder if this could be a prob? It tags misFits and not misfits farm 92. @WVduckchick ?

And I can give the pigeons nesting boxes and some bedding. That's probably why the rollers went broody the cage they were in was a rabbit hutch with no wire bottom so they had bedding.

Dog food bowls were successful for me. Cheap from the dollar store. I even use one for their bath bowl. And they can be easily replaced when they get too nasty. I did order nest pads for the bottom from Foys though.

Should still pull the drop down. Might just have to type more letters to get it to pop up.

Yes thats likely why they laid eggs. And what you saw this morning is the cock trying to get the hen to come and start building a nest together.
